Who am I?
Normally this section is written in the third person...
Since the age of 2 Matt allways wanted to be a landscape photographer.
At 3 he recieved two Oscars for his engaging documentary entitled
'Rogue Sandpit'' etc etc...
No,
I'll write this myself.
I have spent since 1982 to 2005 in the TV news and current affairs
business both as a field cameraman and a picture editor.
This career has taken me all over this planet, even to Bognor Regis
in England! For those 23 years I have always been either filming
or editing images, some good, some nasty.
My passion, however, has always been photography, especially landscape
and natural places. I simply like being in natural and remote areas
and taking time to photograph them.
I live in Canberra, 'the bush capital' of Australia, with my two
young daughters Georgia and Sophie with a view of the Brindabella
mountains.
Visit my blog to keep informed of my travels.
My Camera Equipment
My equipment re cameras consist of a Nikon FA, Nikon F65, Nikon
D70 and a Nikon D200.
A variety of Nikkor pro lenses are used including the supurb 80
TO 400mm zoom lens with VR (vibration reduction). This lens when
used on the D70 and D200 amplifies the focal length to a rather handy
120 to 600 mm.
Many of my images were shot using a Mamiya 645 film camera using
Fujichrome Velvia transparency film with a speed of 50 asa. I use
this camera and its three beautiful lenses mainly in the outback
for long exposures early evening and night.
I print all my own images using an Epson pro 4800 printer. This
printer has been developed to reproduce fine art and photographic
images. It also means I can control all of my reproductions on site.
A Lowepro camera bag and two Manfrotto tripods complete the kit.
My Transport
'Kato' is my beloved steed.
He
and I have travelled vast distances of Australia and allways returned
home with all intact.
I
once drove 6000 kms to Uluru and back with Georgia in the 40 plus
degree heat of late November and managed only to break a drivers
side window winder.
We
have been through many scrapes together from bogs to rocks to fast
outback dirt.
Kato is a 1989 V6 Mitsubishi Pajero with 410.000 kms on the clock.
I use Cooper ST tyres, they don't go flat, rip or let you down,
and I have had 3 sets with no punctures. Buy nothing else.
